TWO brothers are behind bars for beating up three generations of one family-including two pensioners after a coming of age party at a Brierfield pub.
Burnley Crown Court heard how in the melee caused by Leon Edmondson, 24, and Joseph Edmondson, 22, Daniel Cowley, who was celebrating his 18th birthday, his uncle Gareth Jones and his grandparents Kenneth and Valerie Jones were attacked.
Mr Jones, 67, had two black eyes, blood on his eyelashes and bruising whilst his wife, also 67, suffered grazes and facial injuries.
The court was told the defendants' mother was now the licensee of The Feathers, where the early hours trouble took place.
Leon Edmondson, who worked at Morrisons, where he had been considered for trainee butcher of the year, was jailed for 15 months whilst his brother, a welder at North Valley Forge, got 10 months.
Leon Edmondson, of Burnley Road, Harle Syke, Burnley, admitted assaulting Gareth and Ken Jones causing them actual bodily harm and Joseph Edmondson, of Edward Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to assaulting Daniel Cowley causing him actual bodily harm and common assault on Mrs Jones.
Mercedeh Jabbari, prosecuting, told the court the victims were cleaning up after the party, on July 14.
Leon Edmondson accused Gareth Jones of staring at him and then, without provocation, punched him to the head and face.
Mr Jones was knocked to the ground by a blow to the back of his head and was then kicked.
Mr Jones's father Kenneth saw his son being booted, tried to intervene and Edmondson hit him in the face repeatedly.
Miss Jabbari said Daniel Cowley saw what was happening and Joseph Edmondson went straight for him and punched him in the mouth.
Mrs Jones had also tried to stop the violence and Joseph Edmondson swung round and struck her.
Speaking yesterday Mrs Jones, of Coronation Road, Reedley, said: “We’ve all been traumatised by what happened, but we’re getting over it and getting better.
"We don’t know those boys and we will never know why they did it.
“They pleaded guilty and we’re grateful to them for that because they haven’t put us through the torment of going to court and having to re-live it all over again.”
