AN East Lancashire police officer has scooped a national award for services to training voluntary officers.
PC David Smith, from Lower Darwen, was named Police Trainer of the Year at the Association of Chief Police Officers Learning and Development Conference.
PC Smith, who joined Lancashire Constabulary 13 years ago, is lead trainer of the Special Constabulary which trains people into Special Constables.
At the awards ceremony held last month in Ryton it was announced he was Police Trainer of the Year due to his personal effort and dedication.
Victor Robinson, head of professional training at Lancashire Constabulary, said: "David's award is very well deserved and I'm sure that everyone who knows him will join me in saying congratulations on achieving this accolade.”
