A CRACKDOWN on Christmas crime has been launched by police in East Lancashire.
As the town centres become busier with Christmas shoppers, additional police patrols will be on duty, with officers visiting off licenses, pubs and clubs to make sure alcohol is being sold responsibly.
Neighbourhood officers in the Ribble Valley will be checking that vehicles are locked and presents are not on display.
Police in Accrington will be carrying out high-visibility patrols and targeting known criminals.
Extra officers will be using metal detectors to tackle violent crime.
Chief Inspector Terry Woods said: “I hope this campaign helps to raise awareness about the importance of keeping yourself safe and your property secure, particularly at this time of year.”
