POLICE in Lancashire have won a top award for their work in reducing the damage done by drink.
The Responsible Drinks Retailing Awards recognise businesses and organisations that go out of their way to make sure that alcohol is sold in an appropriate and responsible way, reducing the anti-social impact it can have on communities.
Scooping the award for Police Champions of the Year, the force was recognised for its work with off-licences and pubs throughout the county.
Assistant Chief Constable Chris Weigh said: “The award has demonstrated all the hard work currently being performed within Lancashire, both from the Constabulary and all our partner agencies. For this work to be recognised by the drinks industry is heartening and demonstrates the work being undertaken.”
“I hope this reassures the public that we take alcohol related issues really seriously.”
