MORE than 30 vehicles were stopped as part of high visibility patrols and checks aimed at cracking down on speeding drivers in Rossendale.
The action was carried out as part of a county-wide road safety operation, called Operation Pathway, designed to address community concerns about road safety and reduce the carnage caused by careless or irresponsible driving.
Action was taken on Burnley Road and Burnley Road East, Bacup, Bolton Road North, Stubbins, Helmshore Road and Hud Hey Road, Haslingden.
A total of 36 motorists were spoken to by officers, who also contacted a number of residents to let them know action was being taken.
PC Gareth Henderson, said: “Speed is a contributory factor in a number of road accidents and we can’t ignore that or ignore the views of concerned residents which is why we are taking action as part of Operation Pathway.
"I would appeal for all drivers to stick to the speed limit and to listen to this advice before it’s too late.“”
