SOCIAL care for Lancashire’s elderly and disabled is among the best in the country, according to an official report.
The county council, which supports 30,000 adults a year, has retained its top three-star rating for these services for the third year running.
The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), gave the council an ‘excellent’ rating on its capacity for improvement, relating to leadership and use of resources, and is “good” for delivering social care support.
The CSCI said the county council’s key strengths included providing intensive home services, supporting carers and initiatives to improve people’s safety.
County Coun Anne Brown, cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their unyielding efforts in making Lancashire a place where everyone, whatever their circumstances, feels safe, receives high quality care and has the opportunity to lead full and independent lives.
“With an annual budget of over £380m, we remain committed to developing and providing social care services that meet the needs of individuals, their families and carers to enable people to live as independently as possible.”
