DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a robbery at an off-licence in Accrington.
At approximately 9.40pm on Thursday a man entered Booze Busters, Union Road, Accrington, and threatened the shop assistant, a 44-year-old woman, with a hammer.
He fled with £50 from the till and was last seen heading along Union Road. The woman was not injured but was treated for shock.
An investigation is under way and police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
The man was described as white, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
He spoke with a local accent.
DS Mark Vaughton said: “Fortunately the woman was not injured although clearly this was very frightening for her.
“I urge anyone who saw what happened or saw a man acting suspiciously in the Union Road area, either before or after the robbery, to contact us in Accrington CID on 01254 353741 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
