SCHOOLBOY comic Lewis Costello is pursuing his dream of becoming the next Peter Kay with a gig at Burnley Mechanics.
The 15-year-old wannabe comedian performed a five-minute set at Blackburn’s sell-out Frog and Bucket Comedy Club show earlier this month after begging show bosses for a slot.
And, after a good reception from the audience at King George’s Hall, Lewis vowed to continue pursuing his comedy career.
Now, after contacting Burnley Mechanics, he has been given a five-minute set opening The Comedians show starring veteran funnymen Frank Carson, Mick Miller, Johnnie Casson, Maurice Grumbleweed, Dominic Dry and Tony Jo.
A spokesman for the show, on Sunday, November 30, said: “Lewis seems like a nice lad and he said one of his favourite comedians is Frank Carson, so we thought it’d be nice to let him come and perform and meet his hero.
“Having a 15-year-old and an 82-year-old performing on the same bill should be interesting.”
Lewis, of Wilpshire, who attends Our Lady and St John High School, said his routine is influenced by the likes of Jimmy Carr, Lee Mack, Peter Kay, and Chris Rock.
