HUNDREDS of people braved the cold last night to see Accrington's Christmas lights being switched on.
The crowd outside the town hall were entertained with Christmas carols by pupils from Accrington and Rossendale College, stars of Oswaldtwistle's upcoming panto Aladdin and members of Girls Aloud tribute band, Girls Alone, before the plunger was pushed and the streets were lit in a festive glow.
The panto cast, Girls Alone and Hyndburn's mayor Coun Pam Barton gathered on stage to share the honour of turning on the lights.
