FIVE workers at a delivery depot in Ramsbottom face losing their jobs as the company is struck by the credit crunch.
Employees at the TNT site on Railway Street were being informed today whether their jobs are at risk of the axe.
Bosses at the delivery giant will begin a 30-day consultation period over proposals to make five posts redundant.
A TNT spokesman said: “TNT Express believes the UK economy and the express delivery sector in particular is facing one of the sharpest downturns in decades.
“The company will put in place a package of measures designed to drive down costs and improve efficiency, which will inevitably and regrettably include selective redundancy programmes.”
Staff across the company were told two weeks ago that jobs may be lost and those at particular risk were in the process of being individually notified.
