Bosses at a Lostock Hall cancer hospice have sent out a warning about bogus charity collectors.
According to hospice bosses there have been reports of people going door-to-door in Leyland claiming to be collecting on behalf of St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall, near Preston.
John Nickson, Head of Appeals at the hospice in Lostock Lane, said: “We have had reports of people going door to door, in Leyland.
"I am very concerned that people don’t get conned and also the image it portrays of St Cath’s.
“Unfortunately this does happen now and again and particularily so prior to Christmas.
“Anybody collecting on behalf of any charity should have some form of official identity, which people should ask to see.
"If they haven’t then the odds are it is a con.”
