A WOMAN who repeatedly hit a mum in the face with a bottle, leaving her needing 50 stitches, has been jailed for three years and four months.

Lisa Connor, 28, of County Street, Accrington, was branded ‘dangerous’ by a probation officer who had assessed her.

Burnley Crown Court heard the attack was ‘sustained and very violent’.

Connor, a mother of three, set about Sasha Haistie, after claiming the victim had insulted her at an Accrington house party.

Ms Haistie suffered 11 separate wounds, two of them to her face, and has been left scarred, the court was told.

Stephen Parker, prosecut-ing, said the victim, 19, was attacked early on July 5.

Ms Haistie told Connor she had not insulted her, but the defendant started hitting her with the bottle in the face and head in County Street.

The defendant then ran at her again and started punching her. Ms Haistie was taken to hospital where it was found that she had multiple cuts, including a slash to her back.

The court was told how the defendant had led a law abiding life until about two years ago, but had developed a drink problem and gone off the rails.

Connor admitted wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Sentencing, Judge Simon Newell said that Haistie could have lost an eye.

Judge Newell said: “Whatever she may have said, nobody warrants being treated like that.

“That must have been a nasty, sustained and very violent attack upon her.”

Clare Thomas, defending, said Connor was ‘thoroughly disgusted, thoroughly asha-med and she will assure the Court there will be no repeat of any such behaviour’.
