FOUR men have been released on bail following a street brawl in which an iron bar was brandished.

Police were called to Audley Range shortly after 5pm on Friday following reports of a disturbance involving a small group of men.

The incident appeared to have started in the Nottingham Street area and moved to St Thomas Street.

Nobody was seriously injured and five men were arrested on suspicion of affray.

Detective Inspector Jill Johnston said: “Inquiries continue to be carried out and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the disturbance to contact us.

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured and I am keen to ensure this situation is not repeated.

“It is clear, from inquiries carried out at the time, that a number of people may have witnessed what happened and I would urge them to come forward.

“There are high visibility patrols in the Audley Range area who are happy to speak to anyone who has any information, which may help our investigation.”

l A fifth man, Sarfraz Khan, 25, from St Thomas Street, Blackburn was due to appear before Blackburn magistrates yesterday, charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident.
