HE’S one of the rising stars of British comedy and last night Russell Howard proved just why he’s become one of the most in-demand performers on the circuit.
There’s an almost childlike glee about his performance and although clearly battling against the lurgi which saw a Saturday night show being cancelled, he still bounded around stage like an exuberant puppy which has spotted its lead.
Behind the funny voices and performing arts student mimes, there’s a very sharp brain at work which produces some wonderfully wicked observations.
In some ways, the boy band image and goofing around disguise some quite intellectual comedy.
The pace of the show was relentless and the sold-out show lapped up every minute of it.
As we left, I heard someone say “that was quality”. I have to agree.
