A NEW play area for children is set to open today in Briercliffe.
Burnley Council, in partnership with Briercliffe Parish Council, allowed children from St James C of E Primary and Briercliffe Primary, to have their say about which equipment they wanted in the eagerly awaited playground.
With additional funding from the BIG Lottery fund and Briercliffe Parish Council, children will be able to take full advantage of the swings, climbing frames, roundabouts and a football kick wall.
The play area, on Queens Street recreation ground, will be opened at 1.30pm by Coun Roger Frost and Coun Anne Kelly.
The new equipment is aimed at children up to the age of 11.
