MOUNT Carmel RC High School welcomed guest of honour Helen Denton, the executive director for children and uoung people with Lancashire County Council, to their prize night.
Deputy headteacher Joanne Meredith said she was “proud and delighted” with the achievements of all of the students and made a special mention of one student who had performed exceptionally well at GCSE. Clare Cropper who gained 13 GCSE with 12 A* and one A.
Clare was one of two students from the school who achieved one of the the highest overall marks nationally.
Out of 67,731 entries Clare was awarded outstanding marks in religious studies and of 60,878 entries Sophie Fitzpatrick was awarded outstanding marks in drama.
Both students were among the top ten in their subjects.
