SPONGEBOB SquarePants and a shot of Benedictine ensured there was something for young and old at Burnley’s Christmas lights switch-on.
The Nickelodeon star brought a smile to the faces of watchers at the St James’ Street ceremony.
And singing sensation Susan Needham, who shone at a karaoke competition backed by liqueur favourite Benedictine, at Burnley Miners Club, was in the spotlight as part of a packed entertainment programme.
Santa Claus arrived in plenty of time, thanks to his friends from Burnley Rotary Club, and SpongeBob toured the streets.
Performances from Shell’s Belles, the Guys as Dolls show team, Burnley Youth Theatre, and It’s My Party were other highlights.
The event, also supported by Burnley Council and Charter Walk shopping centre, was rounded off with a fireworks display.
