MOTORISTS have been reminded to remove valuables from their cars before leaving their vehicles following a spate of break-ins.
Items including a lap top, briefcase and high value tools were taken from five cars that had been left unlocked across Blackburn.
Police said car crime figures have fallen by around 15 per cent, or 27 fewer victims, compared to this time last year – but leaving vehicles unlocked pro-vides a temptation for opportunist thieves.Sgt Andy Winter, of Blackburn Police, said: “We have seen a reduction in car crime recently due to a series of initiatives being carried out by police, but if items are left on show in cars then it increases the risk of thieves targeting the vehicle.
“Drivers should remove all valuables before leaving their cars.
“Even non-valuable items can be tempting to a thief so it is best to leave nothing on show.”
