BURGLARS raided the cash machine at a corner shop and stole a hoard of cash.
The criminals broke into the Spar shop, in Brunshaw Road, Burnley, overnight before setting to work on an in-store ATM.
They used power tools to prise it open and stole a “substantial” amount of money, police said.
Detectives believe the raiders spent at least an hour gaining entry to the cash machine before bagging the cash.
Det Con Alex Challenor, from Burnley CID, said: “We believe they used an angle-grinder to get into the cash machine but we are still piecing things together at this stage.
“I would appeal for anyone who was in the area or who may have heard or seen something to contact us.
“A large amount of money has been stolen and we obviously want to bring the offenders to justice.”
Anyone with information about the incident, which happened overnight on Saturday and Sunday, is urged to call Burnley CID on 01282 472144 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
