RESIDENTS are being warned to be on their guard after a bogus parcel delivery company left cards at houses across Burnley.

Police said the scam involves cards, which feature a premium rate telephone number, being left by PDS parcel delivery service at a number of properties.

The cards advise residents to dial a number to claim a parcel it was unable to deliver.

But if the number is dialled, there is an immediate charge of £15 for the call.

According to officers, the fake company originates from Belize and they are warning people not to dial the number on the card.

Sgt Phil Carter said: “The scam has been confirmed by Royal Mail.”
