A TEENAGE flying sensation has won a prestigious scholarship with aviation body, The Air League.
Chris Hindle, 19, of Showley Road, Clayton-le-Dale, travelled to St James Palace to receive his scholarship from Prince Philip.
Chris, who is in his second year of a physics and astrophysics at Manchester University, won the nationwide competition in June.
The sponsorship will help towards gaining an Instrument Meteoro-logical Conditions qualification which costs around £2,500.
Chris first had a flying trial aged 15 and made his first solo flight on his 16th birthday.
He gained his private pilot’s licence aged 17 - before he had been behind the wheel of a car.
Chris’ mother Joanne Hindle said: “We’re very proud of him.”
