A 39-year-old Longridge mother hanged herself from the banister at her home.
An inquest heard that Susan Quinn left notes for family and friends but gave no clue as to why she had taken her own life.
Miss Quinn, formerly known as Susan Ball, had appeared ‘perfectly normal’ to a daughter, her mother and best friend who spoke to her in the days before her death.
Rebecca Ball told the inquest she went to her mother’s house in Southern Close at 1pm on July 11 to get a lift.
She was suspicious when the curtains were closed and when she let herself in found her mother suspended from a dressing gown cord.
Miss Ball said she found a number of envelopes addressed to different people. The one addressed to her indicated her mum had intended to kill herself.
Recording a verdict that Miss Quinn killed herself, coroner Michael Singleton said the question why would remain unanswered.
