AN 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault during which part of a man’s ear was bitten off.
Ryan Williams, from Hoddlesden, was charged with wounding with intent by detectives yesterday.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Blackburn magistrates today.
At around 3am on Saturday, police were called to a takeaway in Market Street, Darwen, following reports of disorder between a group of people.
When they arrived at the Golden Grill, police said they discovered that a 20-year-old local man had part of his left ear bitten off.
He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and then to the Royal Preston Hospital but doctors were unable re-attach the bottom half of his ear.
Police said the man was released from hospital yesterday.
