THE head teacher of Beardwood Humanities College heralded an ‘outstanding year’ at the school’s awards night yesterday.
Ruby Hussain, from the Blackburn school, said: “We have had excellent GCSE results and met Key Stage Three targets despite of the national chaos.
“Every child really does matter and we try to provide for all children, whether as individuals, or in groups with different needs.
“We also do a lot of after-school activities, for example we have children learning Latin, and as part of our commitment to community cohesion, we held a fast-breaking event for Ramadhan in which 350 adults from across the borough came and learned from each other.
“Our school is also very generous and recently raised £5,750 for Diabetes UK.
“I am very grateful to the staff, parents and governors, who impact on our fantastic achievements.”
