A TEENAGER who killed a father-of-four has been jailed for four years.
Terence Gaskin, 18, was sent to a young offenders' institution by a judge at Preston Crown Court today.
Gaskin was arrested after his mum shopped him for the unprovoked attack on Kenneth Turnbull in Darwen town centre.
Gaskin, of Bright Street, Darwen, had pleaded guilty in September to manslaughter following Mr Turnbull’s death in August.
He felled Mr Turnbull, 51, a self-employed kitchen fitter, of Limes Avenue, Darwen, with a single punch in an unprovoked attack.
A court had earlier heard Gaskin had consumed 'far too much alcohol' prior to the attack.
Gaskin confessed his crime to his mum Wendy and she shopped him to police.
As there were no visible signs of injury to Mr Turnbull, it was initially thought he had died of natural causes.
But following the call from Gaskin's mum, it was treated as a crime.
And CCTV later found by police shows Gaskin approach Mr Turnbull - who was walking home alone after enjoying a meal at an Indian restaurant with friends - and punch him once in the face.
