A PENSIONER was robbed in broad daylight after being tricked by a “callous” fraudster.
The 62-year-old was walking down Manchester Road, Burnley, close to Piccadilly Road, when she was approached by a man.
He asked her if she could change a bank note but when she got out her purse, he seized it from her hands and ran off.
Det Con Leah Bennett, from Burnley CID, said: “The victim has been left very shaken by this ordeal.
“However, the incident happened at a busy time of the day, early in the morning, and there were people on the street who may have seen something.
“There was at least one man who went to the lady’s assistance before the robber ran off and he saw what was going on.”
The attacker was last seen heading down Piccadilly Road in the direction of Albion Street following the incident, which happened at around 9.45am on Monday.
He is described as white, in his mid- to late-20s, 5ft 8ins, medium build and had ‘mousy’ hair.
He was wearing a hoodie and black cargo trousers.
