POLICE have slammed yobs who hurled bricks at people near Burnley College from a railway bridge.

Terrified employees and bystanders watched as a pair of teenagers threw objects from the viaduct overlooking the new multi-million pound college site in Ashfield Road, off Princess Way.

One of the bricks smashed the window of a parked car, causing £200 worth of damage.

Police have condemned the youths’ actions and have warned they were endangering their own lives by trespassing on the railway line.

Sgt Phil Carter, from Burnley police, said: “This was extremely dangerous, not only for the people below but for these youths who ran off down the railway line.

“These kids were throwing objects at staff and someone could have been very seriously injured. We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what was going on or who saw the youths.”

The pair were last seen heading down the railway tracks towards Burnley Barracks station following the incident at around 2pm on Monday.

They are described as white, aged around 13 and were wearing dark clothing.
