A DRUGS factory has been discovered in a quiet suburban house after a raid from police.
Officers swooped on the property in Selby Close, Baxenden, following a tip off from the public.
Police said that it was a shock for many neighbours to discover that cannabis plants were being grown at the property.
PC Clare Wall said: “It is quite rare to find drugs in this area and it will be a shock to some of those living nearby.
“Some people view Baxenden as a soft touch and think that illegal activity will go unnoticed here, but that is not the case. On the contrary, we have very strong links with the community and act fast on any information we receive.
“Any information relating to drugs is treated with the utmost seriousness and acted upon at once.”
Officers raided the property on yesterday following information from the public and obtaining a Class C drugs warrant. The swoop on the detached rented property was part of a Hyndburn-wide crackdown which has been named Operation Titan.
Police found half a dozen plants within the property and a man was arrested at the scene.
A 35-year-old was arrested by officers on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.
