A PENDLE teenager aiming to emulate Stella McCartney has embarked on a top fashion course thanks to help from a countywide education scheme.
Nineteen-year-old Natalie Baillie, from Colne, has begun a fashion degree at Salford University after completing a BTEC National Diploma in fashion and design at Blackburn College.
Natalie was able to complete the course following support from the Learning Agreement Pilot, a scheme delivered by CXL and funded by the Learning and Skills Council, which offers training packages to 16-17-year-olds in Lancashire who are outside learning, in jobs without training.
She now hopes to go on to have a successful career in the world of fashion.
After leaving school at 16 and taking a job with few prospects, Natalie approached the scheme for help.
She recently won two awards at the scheme’s celebration event in honour of her commitment and dedication.
Sharon Parkinson, learning agreement personal adviser, said: “Natalie is a shining example for other young people of what can be achieved with a committed and determined attitude. It has been an absolute privilege to work with someone who is an inspiration to everyone.”
