FIREFIGHTERS were alerted after a 96-year-old woman collapsed in the bathroom of her home in Bacup overnight.
Crews from the Pennine Road station were called out to Churchtown Crescent by care staff after the elderly woman activated a pendant alarm.
Firefighters attended at around 8am, removed the door from its hinges and ensured the woman was returned to her bed before paramedics arrived.
The woman, who is thought to have been trapped inside the bathroom for some time, was later taken to Rochdale Infirmary for treatment.
