A NEW neighbourhood police officer is on the beat in Burnley town centre.

PC Paul Marsden joins PC Faz Mahmed and PC Fran Pitman, as well as PCSOs Francesco Franco, Michelle MacDonald and Marcus Locke.

His role will be to work in partnership with the shops and businesses in the town centre to help keep crime and disorder levels low.

Among other things, he will be keeping a eye on theft offences, night-time disorder and licence issues in a bid to make the town safer for both the daytime and night-time community.

PC Marsden who has worked on routine patrol as well as the specialist police support unit, said: “ would urge anyone with any concerns to contact me so that I know what the current problems are and can start to tackle them.”
