A WOMAN sobbed as she told police she ended up pouring with blood after a man allegedly attacked her before trying to rape her.

The alleged victim claimed William Hodgson, 51, hit her on the chin before grabbing her arm and pulling her onto a bed.

She said he was deter-mined not to let her leave the house but she was scared and just wanted to get out.

The woman said: “I kept telling him to get off me.

“He just kept saying over and over again ‘you know you want it.’” The DVD of the woman telling police about her alleged ordeal was played to a jury at Burnley Crown Court where Hodgson is on trial. The defendant, of Townsend Street, Waterfoot, denies assault by penet-ration, attempted rape and assault causing actual bodily harm on May 14.

The court has heard claims Hodgson tried to have intercourse with the woman and committed a sex act on her after she went back to his house in the early hours.

He is alleged to have taken off his clothes when they both went to up to the bedroom.

The woman told police Hodgson got on top of her and tried to have sex. She continued: “I tried to get away from him to stop him doing it all. There was no way I was letting him do that.”

Asked by an officer if she consented to anything, the alleged victim replied: “No.”

She told officers: “If I had consented I wouldn’t have ended up with all these bruises.”

The officer added: “Do you feel in any way shape or form that you led him on?”

She anwered: “No.”
