MP JANET Anderson has joined a fresh campaign over the Government’s tax policy.
The Darwen and Rossendale Labour MP has signed an early day motion tabled by Hyndburn member Greg Pope and tax rebel Frank Field.
The campaign says measures to compensate low-earners for the 10p tax debacle had still left more than a million households out of pocket.
In July, Chancellor Alistair Darling quelled a Labour rebellion with a package to make up for the loss of the 10p tax band, which was included in the previous year’s budget announcement.
Mrs Anderson said she welcomed that move but called on the Government to “honour its commitment” and compensate the remaining 1.1million people in its pre-Budget report next month.
