A HEADTEACHER has praised parents for their help after her school received a positive report by government inspectors.

Hapton CE Primary School has been praised for it’s performance by Ofsted Inspectors, who rated it as ‘good’.

Headteacher Kate Marney said: “Three years ago the school was reported to be at the ‘weak side of satisfactory’ and has now progressed to being ‘good with strong features’.

“Myself and many of the staff were new to the school and it provided us with a clear direction in which to work. "It was fantastic to have all the effort and hard work from everybody at Hapton in the last three years officially recognised.”

Mrs Marney she wouldn’t have achieved ‘as much’ without support from parents.

She said:”The inspector commented on the massive positive response rate received from parental questionnaires and on the individual comments from parents who came into school to speak to the inspectors.

“The school is justifiably recognised by parents as a fantastic place for children to be and is a brilliant school at the heart of our community.”

Mrs Marney said that they hoped to build further on inspectors’ recommendations.

She said: “We have three areas to work on which had already been identified in our development plan. The measures in place are already showing results in writing and attendance and we also have building plans in place for a new early years classroom. This will provide extra features needed such as a door to the outside that will encourage outdoor play and add to the well being of our pupils.”

The inspection report said: “Since it was last inspected, hard work and effort by all staff spurred on by an enthusiastic headteacher has enabled the school to improve the quality of education it provides.”

It added: “The school is in a good position to maintain its strengths and develop further.”
