BUS ticket machines worth £15,000 have been stolen from a town centre depot in an overnight attack.
Police said the ten metal devices, which are valued at £1,500 each, were taken from individual buses, at Transdev’s Plumbe Street depot, between 8pm on Wednesday and 5am on Thursday.
Thieves got into the compound by climbing over a barbed wire fence and on to a neighbouring building’s roof.
Once inside they removed the machines from the large unlocked vehicles, which belong to Northern Blue, police said.
Sgt Phil Carter, of Burnley Police, said the CCTV cameras at the bus station were not turned on at the time of the incident.
He added: “This is an unusual offence because these items have no other use, but they could be stripped down for parts.”
Anyone with information or that has been offered the items as scrap metal in exchange for cash should contact Burnley Police on 01282 425001 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111.
