APPEAL: Timothy Mark Pennington
A GARAGE worker who repeatedly had sex with an underage girl has had his sentence cut at the Court of Appeal.
Timothy Mark Pennington, 38, of Hendon Road, Nelson, admitted raping a child under the age of 13, three charges of sexual activity with a child and four of making indecent photographs of a child, at a Burnley Crown Court hearing in March.
He was jailed for 12 years — nine for the rape offence with an additional three for the sexual activity offences.
A 12-month term was imposed, to run alongside, for the child porn offences.
But judges at London's Court of Appeal declared the sentence “manifestly excessive” and reduced his prison term to nine years.
