A MAN who carried out a knife attack on a male he believed had gravely wounded him in the past, has been jailed for four years.

Shaun Feathers went to confront Lawrence Armstrong at his home before stabbing him in the stomach.

Mr Armstrong spent eight days in hospital needing repair surgery to his perforated small bowel.

Feathers, 42, of White Ash Lane, Oswaldtwistle appeared for sentence after previously admitting wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Preston Crown Court heard there was a history between the two men.

In 2001 Feathers was seriously wounded and the violence resulted in him being in intensive care.

He believed that Mr Armstrong was responsible, but the other man denied it.

On the date, in May, the court had previous heard, the defendant went round to his home at Badge Brow, Oswaldtwistle.

His intention was to confront Mr Armstrong about what happened in 2001 and also about some harassment of him and his partner.

He had not expected Mr Armstrong to answer the door. He went on to stab him in the stomach and also delivered a blow to the chin.

At the earlier hearing the court was told that Mr Armstrong thought he was going to die.

The court heard today that in a victim personal statement, Mr Armstrong said: “I will be nervous and fearful as to just exactly how revenge will be exacted.

“I would remind the court although I am no angel, I didn’t deserve to be attacked like this in my home.”

Mr Armstrong, said the judge, believed there was “unfinished business” and that he would be in danger when the defendant is released.

Daniel Prowse, defending, said: “It wasn’t a revenge motivated attack.

"It was motivated by the previous history between the two men, but more by post traumatic stress disorder. This was a wholly one-incident.”

Judge Christopher Cornwall said: “Any use of any knife can carry with it catastrophic consequences.

"It is only by good fortune that Mr. Armstrong’s injuries were not significantly more severe than they in fact were.”
