STAFF at Hoddlesden’s Stepping Stones Nursery have been celebrating new qualifications.
Owner Julie Mercer and Kelly Ward are now level-four nursery nurses – a qualification level which will not become mandatory in nurseries until 2010.
The pair took just under a year to gain their NVQ in childcare, learning and development and Kelly plans to go on to earn a full foundation degree.
Their course means they are now fully up to date with all the latest in child care theory, practice and government legislation.
After all their hard work the pair say children at the nursery were delighted to see them in their gowns and mortar-boards.
