PLANS to demolish a Pendle landmark touted as an ‘eyesore’ have been submitted.
Pendle Council wants to knock down the old Printworks, in Every Street, Nelson.
But it will require the approval of Secretary of State Hazel Blears as it is a council-owned building in a conservation area.
Whitefield councillor Nadeem Ahmed described the building as ‘the biggest single eyesore building in Nelson.’ Coun Tony Greaves, Lib Dem executive member for housing market renewal, added: “The demolition of this building was blocked by heritage bodies and the Secretary of State two or three years ago, but we think that it will now go through.”
