A MAN suffered two broken legs, a crushed pelvis and internal injuries after crashing into a lamp post.

He was trapped in the Peugeot 106 for more than an hour after the accident, on the A59 in the early hours of this morning.

Police said the driver and a female passenger were travelling towards Clitheroe at 12.25am when he lost control of the vehicle between the Bramley Meade roundabout and the McDonalds roundabout.

The passenger received minor injuries.

Both were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The road was closed for four hours.
