POLICE volunteers will be helping combat anti-social behaviour in the lead up to Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night.
Nuisance behaviour traditionally increases before these events and Lancashire’s Special Constables will work alongside regular officers in making communities safer as part of annual Operation Bright Sparx.
The campaign is supported by a number of agencies to reduce injury and nuisance caused through the misuse of fireworks and bonfires.
Each division has been asked to maximise the number of Specials working during the weekend and to ensure they are working with Neighbourhood Policing Teams and addressing local issues.
Inspector Mary Cowley said: “The Special Constabulary is a powerful means by which the local community can be represented within the police service.”
