PUPILS at an Accrington school have today been praised for their passion for the environment by celebrities Piers Morgan and Konnie Huq.

Hollins Technology College has been chosen as one of ten finalists in the npower Climate Cops programme.

The ten Year 8 Hollins pupils are hoping to create an eco garden with an outside classroom.

Headteacher Mr Mark Jackson said: “The children were over the moon to meet Piers and Konnie and are now looking forward to transferring this enthusiasm towards beginning their project and making a positive change to their local community.”

Student Liam Follett added: "It was amazing meeting Piers Morgan today and the other guest speakers.

”After today I'm even more excited about getting our project of an Eco garden up and running!"

Piers Morgan said: “The Hollins Technology College is a credit to Lancashire and I hope they can create a buzz around their project and get the whole community involved.”
