A MAN was attacked with metal bars after four thugs smashed their way into his home.

The group of Asian men forced their way into the property in Charles Street, Nelson, at around 12.40pm on Sunday.

The victim was smashed in the chest and neck with blunt objects, believed by police to be metal bars.

The man was yesterday being treated at the Royal Blackburn Hospital for bruising and cuts to his body.

Meanwhile, police were also interviewing him in a bid to track down the attackers. Det Insp Derek Jones, from Pendle CID, said: “The victim has been left very shaken up.

“We believe the attack was the result of some kind of local dispute which we are trying to get to the bottom of.”

Three men were arrested at the scene and were yesterday being quizzed by detectives over the incident.

However, police are still appealing for witnesses following the attack.
