Farmers are more confident about rising milk prices heading into the autumn, according to the auctioneer at Gisburn Auction Mart’s first dairy sale of the season.
Fred Spurgeon, dairy auctioneer, said: “Farmers were feeling more confident with the late September weather allowing second crop silage to be salvaged at last”.
The sale saw pedigree newly-calved heifers average £1629, commercial newly calved heifers level at £1440, bulling heifers at £843 and heifer calves at £314.
