A 22 year old man smashed a pub window after getting into a “state” because of a £1 a drink offer.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Andrew Richard Randall smashed a toilet window in the Grapes pub on Northgate causing a great deal of inconvenience for staff and other customers.
But Clare Knight, defending, said it was cheap booze available at another pub that had fuelled her client’s “stupidity.”
Randall, of Sunnyside Avenue, Wilpshire, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was fined £65 and ordered to pay £100 compensation and £75 costs.
Miss Knight said Randall was unemployed but despite his limited means had been able to go out and get drunk.
“He is not blaming the other pub but it shows how easy and affordable it was to get into the state he did,” she added.
