MORE than 50 veteran, vintage and classic cars will be travelling through East Lancashire to mark European Heritage open day.

The vehicles will pass a number of historic venues, including Turton Tower, Helmshore Mills Textile Museum in Rossendale, and Towneley Hall in Burnley on Sunday.

They will then stay at each venue for around 45 minutes. Catherine Pearson, the organiser of the Cavalcade, said: “The aim of the Cavalcade is to promote the local museums to people who may otherwise not have visited.”

Spectators will be able to view the cars as they travel through the region at the following times: l 11.15 from Turton Tower, Wellington Road, Bolton Road, Bury Road, Ramsbottom Lane, then A56, turning off the A56 slip road to join Grane Road near Jubilee Road, then Holcombe Road towards Helmshore Mills Textile Museum at 12.15pm.

l 1.15pm from Helmshore Museum, Grane Road and Haslingden town centre, heading along Blackburn Road towards the Winfields roundabout at 1.45pm l 2.30pm from Gawthorpe Hall, Padiham, to A671 Padiham Road towards Burnley, then Cavalry Way, Active Way, Colne Road and Briercliffe Road to Queen Street Mill Textile Museum at 2.45pm.

l Finally, from 3.45pm from Queen Street in Harle Syke, down Briercliffe Road, Eastern Avenue, and Todmorden Road towards Towneley Hall at 4pm.
