A MAN was knocked unconscious after being hit over the head by a plank of wood following a confrontation with youths at his house, police said.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident in Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, around 3am on Saturday.
A couple, in their early 40s, on their way home from the town centre, approached a group of young people on the street who appeared to be causing a disturbance.
They were then followed home by the group, one of whom was riding a scooter, who are then believed to have kicked at the front door of their home, shouting taunts.
Police said during the following disturbance the woman was threatened and her partner was attacked.
He suffered a fractured jaw and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The group of around 12 were a mix of boys and girls, all white in appearance, aged 14 to 17.
