A BENCH dedicated to the memory of two well-known Darwen twins has been installed in Sunnyhurst Wood.
Margaret Worsley, a pharmacist who practiced in the Bolton Road area, and Amelia Davie, a teacher, who were from the Raine family of chemists in the town, died within months of one another this year.
Margaret was 99 and Amelia was 100.
The bench carrying plaques for both women inscribed with their details, is one of four installed by the paddling pool in the wood.
They are the latest in a series of furniture paid for by the Friends of Sunnyhurst Wood, which has donated more that 60 items in recent years, including picnic tables and litter bins.
Dennis Gillibrand, president of the group, said: “I am pleased to report the support and involvement of the community and council in improving the woods is as strong as ever.
“Amelia and Margaret were well known in the town and this is a small tribute to them.”
