A BURNLEY man has appeared before magistrates charged with battery after an incident involving a pump-action shotgun on Saturday.
Anwar Khan, 32, was arrested by police following an incident in Gordon Street and later charged with two offences of battery.
He was also accused of possession of a Mossberg pump action shotgun and possessing ammunition for the same weapon. Khan made a brief appearance before Burnley magistrates yesterday in relation to the four charges.
No pleas were entered and magistrates ruled that the case should be heard by crown court judge and jury.
Khan, who lives in Gordon Street, Duke Bar, was remanded in custody until August 8 for committal proceedings to Burnley Crown Court.
