YOUNG entrepreneurs at a Blackburn school raised nearly £900 by creating and selling their own products.
For its recent business and enterprise week, Wensley Fold Primary tasked each year group to come up with a product idea, make it, market and sell it, within five days.
Children conducted market research, did costings to set up companies, bid for start-up loans, made products with help from local industry experts, advertised during a special school assembly and on the electronic learning platform, and then sold the products – key rings, gingerbread biscuits, T-shirts, greetings cards, painted plant pots, bedroom mobiles and personalised photo items – to parents and visitors.
The money will be donated to five charities chosen by pupils: East Lancashire Hospice, Derian House, Rainbow House, NSPCC and Arthritis Research.
